Mountain Estrela

Linhares da Beira is a medieval village from the 12th century and one of the Historical Villages of Portugal. Highlight for its castle, about 820 meters above sea level.

The Mondeguinho is located at 1425 meters above sea level. The Mondego river is born here. Continuation of the ascendent of Mountain Estrela crossing the glacial valley of Manteigas. Torre (the Tower) is the highest point in mainland Portugal at 1993 meters.

Despite its mountainous location, Covilhã was the cradle of great figures who were instrumental in the Portuguese Discoveries, such as Pêro da Covilhã. But from a very early age, work with wool marked the life of the population.

Sortelha is one of the oldest villages in the country. The old town is a medieval urban space, focused on its defensive needs and military organization. Its castle marks the landscape.

Belmonte is the birthplace of Pedro Álvares Cabral. Solar dos Cabrais was the second residence of the Cabral family, built in the 18th century. Today it is the Discoveries Museum, a space dedicated to the interpretation and diffusion of the Portuguese Discoveries.
